Shower water not staying hot over 10 minutes
My shower water will not stay Hot. I have about 10 minutes of hot water, no matter the time of day or night. It doesn't matter if I've done any dishes or laundry or not. I can run out of hot water in the shower but go into the kitchen and run hot water from the tap! I just don't get it. Is this something with the way the home is plumbed or is this strictly a shower thing. I was wondering if the shower head had anything to do with this? It puts out a large amount of water at one time.
Help,
Tired of short showers w/ warm water

How many gallons is your hot water heater ?
You have high flow shower head. Replace it with low flow and you will double your shower time.
Read this post from beginning to end. It deals with the exact problem as yours:

Size of your heater is important information needed to determine why you're experiencing hot water shortages. Look at you heater, towards the bottom, there is a sticker that will say 30gln or 40 gln or 50 gln etc. Get back to us...
Also, what kind of shower head do you have? Brand/type/ model ?

Have you always been short on hot water or has this just started to happen recently? If it just started, I would guess you have a burned out element in the electric water heater. I would advise replacing both(there are two elements) if this is the case.

arlisia. Can you give any more info other than "40 gal"? Imagine if you called a water heater tech support and said nothing but "40 gal". What type of answer would you expect?

Hello there,
I have a hot water heater that is having similar problems. Not matter which bathroom in the house, the hot water will last for a few minutes and then go to warm and eventually cold. The heater has a 52 gal. capacity it is a 4500 upper and lower elment with a 4500 watt max limit.
How would I know if it is an element that needs to be replaced vs. a new water heater?
Thanks!

Dear all,
I bought a condo a week back and there seems to be this problem of us not having hot water from any of the outlets for more than a minute or 2.
Our water heater runs on gas and there doesn't seem to be any problem with the air, which is heating up the house all right. Kindly help!...
