What era is my inherited chair and its worth?
I inherited a beautiful chair that has carved women on the front legs and on both sides of the back of the chair. The front legs have casters. The upholstery is button tucked with hand carved framing on a round base. It is in excellent shape for its age with the exception of a stain on the seat of the chair which I need to be careful of who cleans it so as to not devalue the piece. I am not sure how old it is, what era it is from, or what it is worth. For the past 7 years it has sat in the corner of our bedroom only to be used to lay our evening clothes upon. Very rarely do we sit on it to read a book.

My educated guess would be from the 1880's. That is obviously not the original fabric upholstery for the chair. The carvings and the feet are very indicative of this period. Looks like a very nice chair. Don't know the cost but if you take it to an antique dealer for an appraisal for insurance reasons you'll probably have it appraised in the $500+ range minimum.
