I just had a new raidator installed last week. Car was now performing correctly, took it to another mechanic ands was told my head gasket is blown and I need a new engine. Is this possible?

If necessary, the head and valves can be machined and the head gasket replaced ($2,000 job). Should not need a new engine, unless something else is terribly wrong.
