    You go through his papers. Try find a copy of the policy or payments made to or bills from an insurance company.

    Unfortunately there is no central clearing house that would list who a person has a policy with.

    Trust call the national association of insurance commissionaire (NAIC). They might not answer the question but they can give a way to loock for any possibilities.
