    Credit Card Theft
    Hi,
I'm just here to ask a question on credit card theft.
I recently just had my credit card cancelled because it was stolen.
I'm just wondering, if I call the cops, will they be able to catch the thief? Because money has been withdrawn from my card...

When did you notice it stolen ? Why did you not call them first?

Sometimes they catch them, sometimes they don't, normally if you have not reported it stolen the credit card company may hold you responsible.

Whether they catch them is really not a concern of yours. In fact, they can probably prosecute without you ever knowing about it.

However you said they "withdrew" funds. You don't withdraw from a credit card. So was it a debit card?

If you report a stolen card immediately you generally have no liability. At most you would be responsible for $50.

Without more info it's impossible to know whether the Police will catch the thief.

I'm surprised - if it was stolen - that the credit card company didn't REQUIRE a Police Report.

Is this related in some way to your earlier posting that you were allegedly involved in a theft?
