Charged with hindering apprehension and driving without a license
My husband's former employee borrowed our car and got pulled over for driving without a license and speeding. He gave them our address as his, his REAL NAME, which they said wasn't his based on his fingerprints,(we know it was though as he was my dh's employee so he had to get all his information, birth certificate, SS#, etc) so the warrant is not under his real name but this alias. Anyway, he no longer works for my dh and we have no clue where he is. We keep getting mail at our house for it.

They left a card on our door yesterday and I called them this morning. He said he was doing warrant checks yesterday. He asked if so and so lived at our house and I said no, and they said they would send the warrant back to wear it came from (another town) and we wouldn't be bothered by it again.

We still have the car he was driving (BMW 540i) that my husband drives. Is there a warrant for the license plate or car as well? As in, will they pull him over for driving the car based on these other warrants that are not his? We live in an all white town (I am white, he is black, we have two children) and have never had any problems before. He has no criminal record except some driving stuff or whatever. What happens now when they send the warrant back to the town it originally came from? We live in NJ.

    Thanks.

The warrant is for the person. It does not apply to the vehicle, the car's license, or your husband. The warrant will be sent back to the court where it was issued for the police to figure out just who was this individual. If your husband has proper identification should he ever get pulled over he will have no problems with the other guy's warrant.

While a warrant wouldn't be issued for the car its possible that a record of his driving that car is attached to his warrant. I would go to the DMV in your town, explain the circumstances and ask if it can be determined whether the current license plate would cause a problem. They may allow you to change the license plate.

Or you can decide to switch to a vanity plate. Usually there is no questions asked if you want to pay extra.

Yes, if husband is stopped in that car, that plate number may trigger the warrant, and husband may be detained long enough to show he is not this person.

But on warrants, often there are several AKA ( also know as) I know several people who have 10 or more other names,
