How do I write an intent to defend letter? What should I include in it? Who is it addressed to?

Its addressed to the court that issued the summons. Generally you can keep it simple. State your intent to defend and list the reason for your defense.

Generally the reason is that you are unsure of the validity of the debt.

You should check with the clerk of the court to see if they have any specific requirements.
