    Child Custody
I live in BC, Canada. I have been in a commonlaw relationship for 6 years now. I have recently found out my partner had slept with someone else 2 years ago. His family has been mentally and emotionally abusive to me and he is an alcoholic. I don't want our daughter around his family at all. Would I be able to an agreement in court that my daughter is not allowed around the family? Would I be able to get soul custody of my daughter because of the lifestyle he lives?

    Maybe.

There is never a definite answer to these questions.

The only thing against him is that he is an alcoholic. The burden will then be on you to probe that he is one.

And even then, odds are probably not. Maybe he will get supervised visits if its very bad, but it all depends on each case's specific circumstances.

Talk with a family law attorney and get his/her opinion on this issue.
