Who support the construction industry, democrats or republicans?
I had a heated discussion today at work about what political party supported construction the most; the democrats or the republicans. Please give me your opinion and why.

Both do. I have to give reasons now? The reasons are implicit.

People at my work made it sound like republicans supported construction more than democrats. "Republicans are pro-construction and democrats are not." I am in the construction industry and I would like to know the truth.

That's a challenge for both parties. The bailout effort, however, made mostly by the Democrats, is seen as a positive for them amongst many construction workers. Especially here in Las Vegas, my home city, where many of those workers bought homes and got caught between the housing market bubble bursting and the casino and hotel projects slowing down, or even worse coming to a halt due to the lack of funding.

As a side note the Culinary Union in Las Vegas, is supporting Obama in the election.

I would think that if you are American citizen and a construction worker then the Republicans, who are tougher on illegal immigration, would be more beneficial.

Oh, wait neither party is tough on illegal immigration!

The Associated Builders & Contractors has endorsed John McCain . Not surprising at all,the AFL-CIO is supporting the Democrat candidate Obama. They rank Obama at 96% .Not sure what the rank and file are saying.

I'm going to say Republican because they want lower taxes on business which will cause more business to do business here instead of offshore where taxes are lower. Makes sense to me. Our government simply must get more competitive for world business.
I understand that this is not exactly construction, but I think all or most business will either rise or fall pretty much together. If workers do not have good pay jobs, they can't buy homes, etc.
