    Old Oil Painting
I have what appears to be an old oil painting. It is signed by only "Johnson".It says on the back "Original oil painting, unlawful to copy. And there is a number stamped on it. The paint is in great condition and is a picture of roses in a green vase.

Does anyone know who the artist is? What does the number mean that is stamped on the back?

    Hi, elbowgrease!

If you could post an image of the painting here, that would be helpful. We don't guarantee results, but we can try!

The number could mean any number of things, like a numbering system for an auction to the numbering of the painting as it might have been for organizing it in a collection or store somewhere.

    Thanks!

Do you know this painting? [ 4 Answers ]

When I was in Dublin last summer I saw a man drawing on the pavement. I'd never seen anyone do it, and I thought it was so cool. He was copying from a painting. It was a young lady on a boat. She had a little parasol with her, if I'm not mistaken, and I also think she was wearing a hat. There was a...
