A/C takes a minute to stop blowing after shutting off
We have a Carrier "1 for all programmable or non-programmable digital thermostat". When we turn off the ac, (not to heat setting, but just "off"), I see the green indicator light go out immediately, but the air still blows for up a minute longer. Sometimes it shuts off immediately, but often it continues blowing for a minute.

My A/C repairman has said there is nothing wrong with the ac and to ignore this. He thought it may be a setting in the program. I have tried changing the cycles per hour from it's 6, down to "limit defeated", whatever that means. (I put it on a "d" setting). But this had no effect.

Does anyone know if this is "normal", or what could be causing the delay in shutting it down?

In my last house, I had a honeywell thermostat that was a good 10 years old. It did the same thing. I then replaced it with a new model ('07) and it no longer had this delay. It responded immediately.

    Thanks in advance

Why are you worried about that small delay to start with?

Put the cycle rate back where it was because it has nothing to do with the extended fan run.

The delay could be auto programed into the circuit board of the unit for energy conservation.
