Can I Cope With Having This Mental Illness ?
Ive Seen A Phчciatrist A Few Times Because I have suffered with depressment. Ive done self harming as a result of the depressment and on a few occasions have attempted to commit suicide.

I was left undiagnosed with the phчciatrists and had remembered That theч had suspected me to have cyclothermia. This is a mild depression where I get mood swings altered bч the depression I get. The definitions I've looked up of cyclothermia have all described the syptoms I have... also it saчs on all but one of them that if lack of treatment it usually leads to suicide which is a scary thought as I think of suicide frequently and am not getting treated as I never got told whether or not I had it. I Really don't like the idea of going back to see the phyciatrist as it didn't feel comfortable because my mum was always there. Anyone Got Any ideas as to what I should do ? Pleasee Help Me Im So Lost and I really want to be able to cope because I'm in a great relationship with this amazing guy and I don't want to lose anything. Pleeasee help :(

Please get help. If you don't want your mother to be there than let the dr know that you prefer to speak with him one on one. How old are you? Do you understand that without treatment the problem isn't going to get better. You need to see the Dr. so he can get you a diagnosis. Maybe there is also some tpye of medication they can help you with. I think once the illness takes a hold, you may not have a lot of control over your thoughts. Take care of this sooner than later. Even if you don't want to go or have your mom around take care of it while your thoughts are still controllable. God Bless

How about going back to a psychiatrist WITHOUT your mom?
I could totally understand that you might not feel comfortable in giving information or feeling with her sitting there. Talk to your mom about it. Really, make it clear to her that you need to do this on your own.

As far as suicide... always remind yourself that nothing is so bad that you should consider it. You will hurt more than just yourself. You loved ones will be hurt as well. Suicide is NEVER an answer to anything.

You are welcome and you are loved by your family. Medication may not be the answer. First get your diagnosis and work from there. Obviously you are a very smart girl, get the help that you need so you can have the relationships and the long life that you deserve to have. This is the beginning of the rest of your life and you are on the right track to get help. There is so much good life ahead of you. Good luck to you.

Hard work will alleviate your suffering. Thinking positively about your future as a woman will help a lot.

Time to work hard at your school studies, and after school participate in sports.

You have to dump your boyfriend because you are too immature to deal with having a man in your life(and sex, I presume).

You have to make yourself into something you love, not rely on someone else to make you feel good about yourself. That road leads to depression.

    Best wishes to you,

I partially agree about the boyfriend.. although if he knows the situation, he may be able to help and support you through this.

It is not illegal (at least here in NY) for a minor to take anti-depressants. My brother in law took prozac for a while when he was 10.

But I agree, 1 step at a time... don't jump right into meds because you may not need them.
