9 month old, teething, diarrhea what can he eat?
My nearly 9 month old son is teething badly today. It looks as if he is cutting a molar in the back. He's been staying hydrated with water/pedialyte, but I was wondering if there were any solids he can eat? He normally eats three meals a day when we eat, but since today has been so off I haven't given him any yet. I didn't want to give him anything that may make it worse.
So what can I give him?

I would just continue feeding him what you normally feed him.
Get a teething ring. It helps immensely. Its just a small plastic ring with water in it. Freeze it. Then give it to him. Chewing on it will help the swelling and make his mouth feel better.

Have you tried to feed him cool foods. I found with my 9 month old that if I fed him things like yogurt, or refrigerated applesauce he was much more willing to eat. If he gets really bad try infant tylenol or orajel to help ease his pain.

I use to give my dauhter a cold teething ring and sometimes I gave her a cold cloth to suck on, that worked best with me. Also, I gave her a frozen bagel to help with her teething too. When babies are getting their teeth they like hard objects. As mention above the applesauce worked too and you can try frozen or slushy fruit juice. As long as he is staying hydrated he will be okay.

Be careful with applesauce, it tends to cause diarrhea, and you already mentioned that your child is having bouts of diarrhea.
Yogurts, cheeses, rice, bananas are all binding foods.
As far as the dehydration... popsicles!

My son loves a frozen washrag, popsickles (which also helps to keep them hydrated), and frozen waffles! Just cut it up into four pieces and let him go to town! You can even buy the flavored ones if you like. We also use baby orajel and children's motrin at night to help him sleep.
