Sure you can bypass the heater core but if you do, you won't have any heat in the cabin of the vehicle in the winter. I did that with my old Cavalier SW in Florida and had to wear a coat in the car in the wintertime and gloves but it was Florida and that only lasted for 2 weeks. Don't recommend bypassing the core if you live up north.

    1. Unplug the two hoses from the heater core outlets that are sticking through the firewall.
    2. Get a brass fitting that has two different outlet sizes from the hardware store, made specifically for plumbing and two small hose clamps.
    3. Fit the two ends together and there you go bypassed!

I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 and the mechanic has discovered that the heater core is clogged. The truck has 25,000 miles on it and the coolant level is in the normal range. The coolant is from the factory. What could have caused the clog?
