    Who is responsible for payment of liens
    We are in the process of buying a short sale in Florida, however, when we got the contract we noticed that the bank had put a stipulation in it that they would not pay more than a certain amount towards liens. We know that the hoa is demanding payment and has a lien on the house. Could we be held financially responsible for any other liens that may be on the house after we close on it?

    The liens must be paid in full before the property can be transferred to you. If the bank won't pay for the liens and the previous owner won't pay (for whatever reason) you are left to pay the liens or you don't get the property transferred. Be happy the bank is willing to pay anything.
