    Furnace Brand
    Hello,

Recently I got a quote on a new furnace and airconditioning units for my home, its two storys and I have two furnaces and air conditioning units.

They quoted 80% efficient Gibsion units, is this a good brand? I'm hoping to get 30+yrs of service, one of my furnaces work but the other is bad currently I have a 60% but both are 30 years old and one is still working great.

    Thank you for any input

Sure Gibson is as good as any other,, the installation is very important.I would ask contracter for a quote on a 93+ or higher, it won`t take very long for you to save the extra money spent

Well... 30 years is a long time. 12-15 is more realistic for any furnace. And of course climate, installation and humidity will factor into the equation. Boilers can last 50 years... but furnaces... not so. Where are you located? Obviously the less the furnace is used and the better the maintenance the longer it will last. I have a Gibson heat pump and it is simple and works well. Wmproop is right. (as usual) Get the most efficient furnace you can afford, it will pay in the long run, and go with a reputable HVAC guy. Get references, ask around... it's a big investment.
