Lalilosa - This coin you have ,I know has everyone very excided, I AM>! If you can post a picture of the front and back sides so a lot of us interested in coins can see it and if you can give me as much detail as you can off the front and back of it . I can't tell you anything about the coin without knowing, Now if you have a coin shop near you , take it there. The second way is take a good magnifaing glass and look close at both sides, IF its counterfit this is the best way to tell ( LOOK FOR BUBBLES A ND PIMPLES IN THE METAL IT IS Made of ) The other way will to let me know and I can get you in touch with someone you can trust and will have the best knowledge to tell you what you want to know . WAITING YOUR REPLY <GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS ;; F.B.E.

Is it common to make fakes of this perticular coin? I wouldn't think so. No mint mark to alter. I would think counter-fitters would work on something more valuable. In the Red book, a 1796 in AG is $650. Go up to Fine and it's $2500, MS is $35,000. So grade is the key of course. Don't spend it the Dollar store just yet. I'd like to see the pictures also.

JRWILD62 - YES you would be surprised just how much counterfiffing of the COLONIAL AND POST COLONIAL COINS that happens even coins of now days, just like paper currency also I'm not going to say what the value is until I know for sure just what coin she has, there were several different coins minted at that time and so many different designs ,countries and states and different co's invouled in there minting its really very hard to say withouy knowing. Have a good day and GOD BLESS :: F.B.E.
