How to bypass 92 Civic DX Main Relay
    Hello,

My 92 Civic DX died in the parking lot a nearby grocery store the yesterday. The symptoms are no click when turning the key (like main relay or harness is possibly bad). Anyway, I swapped the relay to no avail.

I'd rather not leave me car in the parking lot and was wondering if I can remove the relay and jumper any of the harness pins together temporarily to drive the car home, so I can keep troubleshooting here.

    Thanks for any help...

That won't work. Instead, perform tests in Sections A and B below:

Well I ran it through the battery of tests for checking main relay harness and all tested well. I checked the MAP sensor and got nothing close to 5V. I did not yet try the D pins on the ECU itself. I pulled the ECU and for grins, I opened it up. The 220uf/35V cap just inside the B connector had blown (black on the solder side and black on the top side). So I guessing that confirms my problem. Question... it would be pretty easy to replace the cap, but is that even worth trying... would this failure have caused additional problems with the ECU?

My car is a 92 Civic DX 5-speed. ECU is 37820-P06-A00 (740-513914). What other models should I find this on... I thought I might try pick n pull first since a new one is in the $300+ ballpark with core exchange. I assume that I need to match the '37820-P06-A00' exactly. Of course, I want my car to run a long time so $300 is not a bad investment I suppose... and still a savings since I'm doing it myself.
