    Pregnant and not resident
I'm a British citizen in a serious relationship with an Australian citizen. I haven't got permanent residency in Australia and my only option at the moment is to go back on a tourist visa then apply for 'Defacto' visa. We have recently found out that I'm pregnant. When I go back to Australia I'm only on a tourist visa and would I be entittled to any medicare. My partner is currently back home and I'm in UK until I can fly out.

    Hi Daisy,

I am exactly in the same position than you now, just found out recently. I was wondering what solution you found out? I've just realized that you cannot apply for De Facto while pregnant cause you need a chest X-ray and you cannot do x-ray while pregnant... this is just an impossible situation! Paying for the medical cost is so expensive and I'm very confused as what to do as my Australian partner will not be able to leave Oz due to his job...

Hope to hear from you soon or anyone who would have information!

    Thanks

    Stellla
