    Buying a new old mower
Hello. I have a friend that is selling a walk behind 33" cut mulching mower to me. It has a 8.5hp engine on it and double blades. The make is a Troy Built, but I don't know the model. It looks like a heavy duty front cut with the caster wheels. I'd like to know more about this mower and a fair asking price. It's probably 7 to 10 years old and not in production anymore. Looks brand new. Thanks for your help.

My groundskeeper calls Troy Built "fair to middlin" in the commercial category.

He said he wouldn't buy a TroyBuilt for commercial use but for home use said that if it's in great shape, about $500 should be about fair for that age if in excellent condition.

    ... hope that helps some.

Well... troy bilt is a mtd, I don't hold mtd's in high regard, what brand engine? I might ask $350 to start with.
