    Tower Fans
I have looked and cannot find info on what the advantages of the fairly new tower fans are to a traditional circular blade fan. Can anyone explain.

I have a fairly large living room that is open to the dining area and kitchen so its hard to cool. I'm limited because my wife doesn't like drafts so she won't have a fan blowing directly on her. We do have a ceiling fan but that doesn't circulate air enough. That's why I'm wondering about these tower fans hoping they will circulate air better without creating a focused draft.

    Scott,

Here is a link I found at eopinions.com with one review for a tower fan. There were a few others for you to review.

Seems this person had an issue with cleaning the unit.

I have no personal experience with this type of fan, just thought I would look to see what I could find, probably something you already found, but, I tried.

Hope this helps some. They seem cheap enough to buy, maybe get one at Wally World, try it a week, and return it if it does not work out for you.

I have both types and I find the tower moves a lot more air and takes up less space than the more trad version.
Works best when sited in the corner of a room as the swing arc then covers the whole area so no focused draughts, juts a pleasant breeze.

As TK suggested they are cheap enough so take the plunge ;)
