    Average and Speed
A severe storm on January 10, 1992, caused a cargo ship near the Aleutian Islands to spill 29,000 rubber ducks and other toys in the ocean. Ten months later hundreds of toys began to appear near Alaska, roughly 1600 miles away. What was the approximate average speed of the ocean current that carried the ducks to shore in a.) m/s and b.) mi/h?

    What is a) m/s?

    b) miles per hour:

There are 365 days in a year
Divided by 12 months = 30.4 days per month
    Times 10 months = 304 days
    Times 24 hours a day = 7296 hours

1600 miles divided by 7296 hours = .22 miles per hour
