Sitting here worrying
Hello all, I'm mother6 and I need a little help. I'm 38weeks with my 6th little one and my doctor says going by my ultrasound I'll have my baby in oct 4,but my last cycle was dec 17th 2007 that would make my due date sept 22nd. I talked to the person who did the ultrasound and she said the baby is a little on the small side who should I listen to?please help me because the end is almost here.( sorry about the date mix up.)

Wow this is really confusing. If your last period begain on February 17, then your due date should be November 23/24 according to my handy dandy Gestational Wheel. So your due date would NOT be in September. As a matter of fact, if your last period was 2/7/07, you are currently 29 weeks and 3 days.
This would explain why your baby is on the "small" side.
I am a labor and delivery nurse and deal with this on a daily basis, I have, in front of me, the wheels that the doctors use to predict the due date (otherwise known as the EDC).

Have you talked about your latest ultrasound with your doctor?
2 weeks doesn't sound like a huge difference to me... just sounds like you should be prepared from this day forward.
Mine were all different... my 2nd kid was a 10 month pregnancy... (yeah she came out 1 month late) and only weighed 6 lbs 12 oz... (she was my largest baby LOL)
How big have your other babies been? Are you sure about your last period date? Did you mean February 2008?

That would make a huge difference lol

Actually, if her period was 2/17/2008 She would still be due November 23/24. Sorry, had my years mixed up. Working 36 hours in a 72 hour period, and just waking up doesn't make for good brain chemistry.
Anyway, if your period BEGAN on 2/17 (no matter what year), your due date is still November.
Which puts you at 29 weeks and 3 days as of today.

Mother6, please do not edit your original post, it only adds confusion to the mix. Just scroll down and post the new dates.
With that said, if the first day of your period was DECEMBER 17 instead of February, your due date would then be September 21, which puts you at 38 weeks and 4 days, meaning you conceived on or around New Years Eve.
This means that you could go into labor at any time and if you were at my hospital, I would not stop your labor.
Sometimes babies just measure small, this is called SGA or Small for Gestational Age. No big deal really.

I guess I'd just say if you are concerned talk to your doc about it, but be prepared for imminent labor ;)
I know on one ultrasound they told me my 2nd kid was going to be over 8 lbs...
She was no where near that big.
Good luck :) ;)

I had 4 children... 7.8, 7.6, 4.12 and 5.11
So you see, the ultrasound is only a guesstimate, it is not to be taken completely to heart.
As I said, if you came up to my unit tonight, I would not even attempt to stop your labor at this point. Since you are a G6p5 (pregnant 6 times with 5 living children), your labor can progress VERY quickly.

The ultrasound tends to alter the due date a bit since going from your last period counts some time that you are not actually pregnant. Either way, as J_9 said, you are at the anytime stage and labor would not be stopped. As for baby being small, given the weights of the other children at birth, it would not be surprising that this one too would be on the slightly smaller end. Certainly they can vary, and there will always be exceptions, but some women will just naturally grow smaller babies and some bigger babies... after several, you can put the odds in your favor of this one following the same.
