OK. I plan on getting married. But I have been sued by 2 credit card com. Will this affect my future husbands assets? His mother passed away and he has a large amount of money and property left to him. If a judgement is placed againest me can they come after him for payment or property if we get married? I live in Texas. These were 2 credit cards in my name only.

NO. Just make sure you don't open up any JOINT accounts with him or they'll take everything in it - his too. Make sure that any real property you buy is put in HIS name only until you get your situation straightened out.

How old are these debts and when was your last payment or agreement to pay? Have you be sued and a judgement came down or is this on going?

Thanks for your responses. I have not been to court but found the papers on my fence. If I was going to respond I had to do so sometime back in May.What happens if a judgement is placed againest me?Am I going to be notified? Will they garnish my wages? Should I close my accounts? I do own a 2003 Altima. Should I get that put in his name? Can they take it? One lawsuit is for approx 12,000 and the other is for about 7,000. 2 different credit card comp.

Do NOT mingle funds. Don't mingle contracts. They don't want your car, but if you transfer ownership to AVOID it being taken, that's a CRIMINAL offense, PLUS you have involved your future hubby in your affairs.

The idea I'm trying to impart to you, is to NOT do that. If you do, they WILL wind up collecting from HIM.

Yes, they can garnish your wages. Yes, they can attach your bank accounts. Yes they have to notify you, and they did. You found the notification on your fence.
