How do I fix a garbage disposal?
Does anybody know how to fix a garbage disposal? It's making a very low wurring sound even after I tried resetting it. Please advise. Thanks.

Can I assume it doesn't work? Is this sound always on or just went you turn it on?

Maybe something is jambed in it. UNPLUG IT! Then use a flashlight and look down inside.
And if there is something wrong with it(example.. motor blown, bearings shot, etc), its probably cheaper to just get a new one than try to fix it

If your blades are spinning and you do not see an obvious item try dumping a container of ice cubes with water while its running. If it just humms and doesn't spin let us know that.

My disposal has always worked just fine, but today it's sending water back up into the sink after it's gone down once the switch is turned off? A clog? Does this necessarily mean a plumbing call?
