    Toilet leak, musty smell
I recently replace the supply line to my toilet. I guess I did it wrong and water leaked around the edge of the wall for 2 days. I fixed the leak and mopped up the water. Now we have a bad musty smell. DO I need to tear my sheetrock out and replace the insulation and sheetrock? I don't see any mold growing, so it must be inside the wall.

Before I pushed the panic button I would take and pour bleach around the area that got soaked. Then I would pull the chrome escutcheon plate on the angle stop away from the wall and see if I could take a turkey baster and squirt some bleach down inside the wall to kill the mold. Good luck, Tom

Toilet smell [ 5 Answers ]

We just moved into a 2 story house about 4 months ago and we are starting to notice a smell in the downstairs master bedroom toilet. The toilet is separated from the rest of the bathroom by a door, so there is not shelving or sinks in there that could be the problem. It has gotten so bad that the...

Smell from toilet [ 1 Answers ]

Our house is 5 years old. In November we noticed an odor, which I charactized as sewer odor from the toilet bowl. The plumbing contractor came out and check under the house for a sewer leak and there was no leak. We removed the toilet and replaced it with a new toilet. The odor is still there. We...

Musty/moldy smell [ 1 Answers ]

We have noticed a strong musty/moldy smell coming from the bathroom vanity, inside of heating baseboard (there are holes where the pipes go into the wall), inside the electrical box panel and any small openings on the baseboard too. We own a slab ranch home (no basement). There are no visible...

I have a two story home about 3 years old. The problem started about a year ago with the upstairs toilets. Then included the downstairs toilet. It is a septic smell . The toilets all gurgle and burp when flushed which of course lets the smell burp in. I've snaked all the vents today and find no...
