    Veteran Affairs versus Medicare
I have a friend that will be eligible for Medicare in a few months. Right now he goes to the VA for his health care. He was wondering what he should do if he should sign up for Medicare and continue to see the VA or not sign up for Medicare

Where he lives is there a VA hospital to go into, will all of the treatment always be in a VA faility. For my dad, the VA nursing home often transported him to a public hospital when there was an emegancy and the VA hospital did not have room, so without medicare he would have owed 10's of thousands of dollars.

You wlil have to determine what his future medical needs are. Normally I advice to do it, but only you know your exact needs.

Also what happens if VA cuts their local services, if you don't do medicare now, you lose coverage
