granddaughter on probation
she is not allowed to drink or use drugs, recently at a family wedding she drank!! How long does alcohol stay in your system, lets say two drinks and you are 5'3" and weigh 160. Her argument was that she had just been tested the week before and the random tests they do are so predictable it is ridiculous... she says two drinks would not show up 72 hours later... is this true. If so how dumb is this part of her probation!

Two drinks with a weight of 160 pounds will not "show up" 72 hours later.
What is the dumb part of this? That probation doesn't test her every day because she won't stop drinking - ? I think the dumb part is that she won't follow the rules of probation and isn't in jail.
Report her to her PO and maybe her probation will get revoked and she'll serve her sentence in jail. Otherwise, there is no easy answer.

The whole process is dumb! Tests are supposed to be random they are almost every two weeks... reporting her to the PO does not work, they have to have a 'bad' test to prove she is violating her probation orders... Very frustrating system. However, Thank you for the response.:) :)

Don't worry about her as she knows it all. She can't fool everybody all of the time and she will get caught sooner or later. Random drug testing to her is just a joke. You didn't say what she was on probation for but I'll wager a guess it was either from a DUI or drug related charge. She will more than likely do something else again after she gets off probation and she really hits the jackpot and lands in prison as she considers the law to be one huge joke. There is essentially nothing you can do at this point if the random drug testing does not catch her. Sorry.

Actually she has to worry about people at the wedding who saw her drinking reporting her, perhaps photos showing her drinking
It should be out of her system, but that is the least of her worries, since a lot of PO will take the word of upstanding people in the communiity if they reported her. Also if they get a report, they may decide to search her house, anything in it? Or do more random testing

Hello cd:
She's right. But somebody who drinks two will drink three. They'll think they have it all figured out. Can they beat the system?? Sure. You don't think everybody who breaks the law gets caught, do you??
But, they don't beat the system. The system is patient. Their time will come. Let's just hope it doesn't come at the expense of someone else. Certainly, YOU can't do anything about it. Why are you so pissed off at her?

I am angry because I do not like people who break the law over and over again, and because the system should be tighter than it is... I am angry because she won't listen won't learn and it really really hurts her family every time she gets into trouble. I inherited this person, and from the outside looking in, she plays 'the victim' it 'wasnt her fault' 'it was the other people who made her do it'. Oh and no it was not DUI or Drugs she has 7 felonys for burglary. Apparently she claimed use of meth... but when she was arrested and they tested her there was no chemicals found in her blood? She was living with an older man and this is what they did to live neither one wants to work and she blames him for everything. This girl comes from a very affluent family but she doesn't understand that they worked to make their money. Anyway, if she gets caught she goes to prison for 12 years. We just wanted to know... it really doesn't make any difference she violated her probation... Thanks for the input folks!

Well, then do as FrChuck suggested. Take photographs and statements of people to her PO. Put her in prison for 12 years.
This is another one of those "the family can't control her, let the system do it" situations.
No one took the alcohol out of her hand(s) at the wedding?

Hello again, CD:
If you DO snitch on your granddaughter, you'll be a much worse person than she is no matter what she did.

Dear excon,
You are nuts!. this young woman, stole from every one she knows including her mother! The fact that your name is excon... says it all. As for Judy KayTee, I did take a drink away from her, but I was hosting the wedding with 132 people in attendance. My feeling is if she will break that probation rule what other ones has she or will she break. Anyway once again thanks for the input. I am going to leave this alone right now.

It would not have been the first time someone posted that in a very public place - such as a wedding - someone was asked to leave.
Short of putting yourself right on the line here I think you've got to let it play out.
If she's playing fast and loose she'll get caught, if not with alcohol, with drugs.
And then there will be new problems.
EDIT: Sounds like a lot of misplaced anger here.

Hello again, cd:
So, the courts didn't do ENOUGH to her to satisfy you, huh? Now you're going to take charge of her sentence??
Look Grandpa, you are allowed to think that putting your granddaughter in the slam for 12 years for having a cocktail is cool. I don't! And frankly, I wouldn't think so had I never been in the slam myself.
I'm glad I don't have grandparents like you.

Hello again:
Thanks Judy. I ain't saying she doesn't need help. I AM saying that help doesn't happen in prison - PUNISHMENT happens in prison.
