    Dr messed up my D&C
On my 12 week visit to the ob/gyn I found out that my baby didn't have a heart beat so my Dr. scheduled me to go to the hospital for outpatient surgery the next day to have the baby removed. I was told the procedure should take about 30-45 minutes. My D&C was done in 15 minutes which resulted in some tissue being left inside of me. About a week after the D&C I had to go to the ER because I was hemmoraging an unbelievable amount. They ended up admitting me for the next 3 days, and scheduling me for another D&C. When I asked the Dr. if this happened often he said he had never seen this happen before and he also said that the Dr. that did the first D&C left a lot of tissue inside me which was the reason I started hemmoraging. I missed a lot of work because of his mistake, my husband lost his job because he stayed out of work so many days to take care of me. Please somebody tell me I have a lawsuit on my hands. If the Dr would have taken his time and done the procedure correctly then none of this would have happened. Not to mention I have to pay for 2 D&C's and 3 nigths in the hospital now. I need some advice please help.

This could possibly be a malpractice suit. I would have to read the medical records to be sure.

There are risks to every procedure. Hemorrhage and retained tissue are just to of the possible risks to a D&C. To know if this was malpractice would be in the medical records.

You go to the hospital where the procedure was done and request a copy. Each facility has their own procedures for obtaining medical records. Contact the medical records department at the hospital where this was done.

You are very welcome. Just remember, what you experienced are possible complications of the surgery you had.
