Kenmore gas dryer 417 not heating, ignitor is working
Our gas dryer 417.93142202 (5/03) stopped heating. We remove a large amount of lint (5 yrs of dog hair!) in the housing and bottom of lint trap, gas lit twice then stopped again. Ignitor is glowing orange every time and we get a fast clicky sound as the gas tries to light but fails (this is different than the gas on/off single click). Husband is HVAC tech and checked gas flow and getting 2.4 (gas value states 3.5). Any suggestions before we give-up and call for repair?

It has to go through ignitor, then pilot, then flame proving, then gas valve opens.

Are you getting pilot after the ignitor phase.

Sometimes the clicky sound occurs right after ignition. It just doesn't stay lit. Burner shuts down.

    Care to elaborate.

Thanks for the quick response, but hubby got it fixed. He thought it could be the solenoids coils and found them for $24 at a local parts store instead of $60+ from Sears so went a head and gave it a try. It is working great!
