He needs professional help. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to fix.

You may want to look into speech therapy. There are a lot of kids that age, though, that can't speak clearly.

I would recommend start (or continue) to read to him. Don't use "baby talk". Always speak clearly and when he wants something, repeat to him what the object is.
Try not to get frustrated. Children can pick up on negative vibes pretty quickly.

Hi there I have been going through the same problem with my 3 yr old when he had his last needle the nurse asked quiestion about his devolopment and I mentioned speech a speech theropist came to my house and he pretty far behind he got into speech and turns out I was teaching him (not wrong but I could have been doing a better job) I kept telling him the word for ex ball but I wouldn't give action words ball roll, bounce, throw, up, down so he hasn't put together sentences plus both his biological father and myself had problems with speech growing up as well his father didn't talk to he was 5 and I had a lisp. Most words he says he also misses the first couple sounds or the few near the end ex: please sounds like ease they wanted to make sure I'm also pronouncing words properly and slowly. Try and find out about speech in your area, my son had his 3 yr assiment now and will be starting school in September (cause he's still behind but its paid for) best of luck

I agree with the above posters. You need to consult a speech therapist. I don't think you can do this by yourself. I don't think anyone could.

Have you had his hearing checked? If he has liquid in his ear canal, it will effect his hearing, which would, in turn effect his speech.

Check into the Birth - 3 program (Early Head Start) in your area (Social Services/DCFS office can help you locate that program), they can help you with speech therapists as well as many other programs that may be beneficial to you.

    Good luck!
