    Water Valve
The main water valve coming into my home makes a vibrating noise every time I turn a faucet on anywhere in the house. How can I get rid of this noise?

There are probably more "main" than you think. There is one just inside your home but another is out near the street. You need the city to close the one near the street so you can repair the one in your home, it likely has a loose rubber washer that is vibrating.

Some locales like mine allow the homeowner to go and pick up the tools to turn off the water at the street (curb stop) with a deposit. Other locales have different rules such as must be city or must be licensed plumber.
