    Condenser fan not coming on
    Hello,

My 14 year old Goodman AC stopped working cooling and when I checked the outside unit, the condenser fan wasn't running and the area on top of the unit where the fan motor is connected is very hot (much hotter than the other unit when it is running).

I'm wondering about the first place to start w/diagnosis given the symptoms.

    Thanks,

    Terry

Could be the fan motor has gone bad, being hot is a good sign, was the compressor running?if not the compressor might have shut down on overheat overload, try it again tomorrow after all has had time to cool down, and watch it kind of close, see if fan runs for a while and then slows to a stop,, possibly be a capictor bad but with the heat tells me maybe not

It's raining out, so the unit has really cooled down -- I had the wife switch it on while I was standing by the unit -- it sounded like the compressor started, but the fan didn't come on.

    Thanks for the help!
