    Rebound Relationships
Do they actually allow you to get over someone? I know there are obvious moral reasons they should be avoided.. but do they actually allow your feelings towards another die down?

I don't believe in rebound relationships. I think you should let yourself get over that person before you start dating someone else because there is a possibility of feeling even worse if you rush in too quickly.

Nope, they don't allow you to get over someone. What it does is cure the feeling of loneliness for the time being. It's basically filling your heart with air, no love and when that relationship ends you are hit with everything x2 at once. I'd rather deal with one heartbreak and heal rather than push it off for later

As Romefalls said, it's kind of like a temporary fix. Sure, it gets you through a time of about a week or two... but eventually, it fails, and you just feel even worse because not only do you have to deal with the original breakup, now you have to deal with two. Best to grieve through it, and move on.

Yikes is right.. I would try to find anyone to kill the loniless, and then when she was gone, I felt the lowest of the lows and then after a month of random hook ups(not sex) I just accepted reality and eventually got close to a new girl, just as friends at first, which blossomed into romantic feelings and now we are together and I couldn't be happier with her.

Yea rebound relationships don't work. I would say date & meet people be friends w/them this will help your mind off the break-up. Which has happened to me... I have a "friend" who was there 4me but he doesn't know but in a way helped me move on but the thought of going out on a date w/another guy makes me sad because I am still mourning my ex in a way.. I just happened to notice that this past weekend. I did not allow myself time to really get over him...

Why put your misery, and pain, on someone else's shoulders, that's not fair, nor is it fun.

Rebounding is an easier, shortcut, to healing and getting healthy, that causes more problems, than solutions

I don't think a rebounder is necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes it helps to just have a bit of fun, to put everything to the side for a while and just cut loose. As long as you're both cool with that, some random passion can seriously sort your head out!

Can it help you get over someone? No, it can't. Only you can do that. You can't fill the gap a relationship leaves with someone else. But if you can separate sex from love, and of course you've got no moral objection, rolling round the sack with someone can boost a bit of self-esteem. Think of it as a sign that you're recovering.
