    Occupant Law
I live in New York State with my boyfriend. We found our apartment together, we've lived together for 10 years, but this is the first time that I am not listed as a Tenant on the lease. I am listed as an Occupant. I have paid 1/2 of the security deposit plus 1/2 of the rent using my checks, 1/2 of the utilities and 95% of the food bills. I have also bought decorative items for the apartment. I also have a parking space.
My boyfriend has begun holding the lease over my head. If he doesn't like something I say or do, which is twice a week, he threatens to throw me out telling me I'm just an Occupant. He says that I'm going to come home and find my stuff in the hall. I have a Laptop, a computer, printer, clothes, etc. He constantly says he's going to call the Police and tell them I am trespassing. I collect art and for Christmas and my birthday he bought me 2 sculptures, which he says if I move out I can't take because he has the receipts and he'll say he bought them for himself. What are my rights here?

Remind him that you do pay 1/2 of everything and whether you are listed tenant, occupant, resident, guest, whatever he/the landlord would have to give you an eviction notice and formally evict you according to your state law.

OK, well can he illegally throw your stuff in the trash, yep, can you then sue him of course.

Lgally, he will have to give you a notice, which your refuse to do, then he has to take you to housing court to evict, with that you then present all of your evidence.

But to be honest do you want to live with a jerk like this, does not sound like a loving relationship? Sounds abusive to me. You need to find somewhere to move to.
