Formal Probation for DUI.punishment for traffic violations.
This may seem silly, but I'm nervous in general about being on Formal Probation for a first time DUI (no accident, 12 BAC). Anyway I was curious as to what would happen if I got a ticket say for tinted windows, or running a stop sign, speeding, etc

In what way could these things affect my probation... jail? Horrific fines? License taken off restriction?

Probation is given "instead" of jail time, if you violate your probation you can be sentenced to jail for that period instead. Normally speeding will not make them revolk the probation or other minor traffic violations, but technically it could.

I was a probation officer in Maryland for 7 years and the probation orders there have a general condition that a person cannot be convicted of a "jailable" offense. In other words, if you get a ticket for something like speeding, and send in the money to pay the ticket, you would not be in violation of probation. If you get a ticket for something serious like "fleeing and eluding", which in my state can carry jail time, you would be in violation.

You have to be convicted of the offense to be in violation and in my state, failure to appear in court as directed, for any offense, is a violation. There may be some variation on this from state to state.

Another problem I have run into is that, in my state, there is also a condition of probation that requires probationers to notify their probation officer if they are charged "with a crime or serious traffic offense." People have gotten into trouble because they were not convicted of such an offense, but failed to notify their PO when they were charged. Check your probation order to see if this is the case and stay out of trouble!
