can't import outlook express 5 from external drive
a win xp node was backed up to an ext. usb drive and the user got a new laptop which runs vista.
the orig outlook express is 5.x. I'm trying to bring in at least the address book but hopefully the whole acct into a fully updated win xp which has outlook express 6.x. I'll attempt to bring it into vista when I get access to that node.

when I try to import from outlook express 6 for address book, it won't let me point to the .wab file in the orig user acct. If I try to import the messages into oe 6 it doesn't give an option for oe 5, only oe 4 and oe 6.

how can I successfully perform the import?

You mentioned vista, outlook express will not work in vista - windows mail replaces that in vista

So, you are just trying to import version 5 to 6, both running XP?

Just manually copy the wab you would like where you need it to be found where version 6 is overwriting the one that is there for 5 to see if that would work

Try exporting to a comma separated text file or whatever it called in english, everything accepts that

As for the actual emails of oe5 (wow these people must of never updated their computer in like 6 years! ) try import them to a version of Microsoft outlook 2003/7 and then export them from there to the flash drive, and import into outlook on the new machine
