Why are fairy lights dancing over my bed?
A few weeks ago I woke up in the middle of the night because it felt like my cat was having a fit on my bed, he was jumping around on the spot. I looked up and saw a circle of dancing coloured lights above my bed, I'm sure I wasn't asleep. I was a bit scared so I said in a loud voice "Go away" they instantly disappeared and my cat settled straight down and went back to sleep. The next day a close friend that I've had for over 20 years rang me and told me that he dreamt the night before about me and he was ringing to see if I was OK. I said that I was fine and things are going extremely well for me at the moment. In fact over the last 6 months I've won 2 major cash prizes in lotteries and raffles, got a fabulous new job, shifted house and I'm really really happy. I didn't tell him that I saw dancing lights the night he had a dream about me. Today he rang me to say that last night he woke up to see dancing lights above his bed and that he had a dream about me and this was the second time he had seen dancing lights associated with thinking about me. We live in separate towns and don't contact each other every week. Our relationship is purely platonic, he's just my best mate (even though I'm a girl!) I feel that I've transferred my dancing lights to him because I told them to go away on their first visit and so they are visiting my best mate instead. Are dancing lights above my bed a good thing or bad thing? What do they mean? I live by myself, I've just turned fabulous forty years old but I'm a wee bit scared. Your advice and interpretations appreciated.

It could be an aura of him or someone else that you are seeing. I normally don't want to admit to any sort of paranormal things existing at all without first checking for sane and rational explanations as to the cause of them. But, because of things that I have experienced in my own life, I know that there are things "out there" that happen for which we have no explanation.

The subject of astral projection is something that you might want to look into as far as an explanation to what you and he have experienced.

Cats do tend to be sensitive to this sort of stuff. Your cat definitely reacted to the lights' presence, but didn't seem threatened--no hissing or yowling or diving under the bed. Given that, and given that things in your life have been very positive, and given that these are lights, not shadows or something ominous-looking (although you can't always judge by appearances), my instinct is that, yes, these are beneficient presences.

If they come back, try to have a conversation with them. Let them know that they are welcome in your home and in your life only if they hold the highest, best intention for you, but that you do honor and respect them. You might even want to make some small offering for them, or an altar for them. As to the details of how to do this--pick your tradition! Every culture and faith has its own method, all about the same in broad points, but with different details. Or use your imagination! They like it when we use our imaginations.

They may well be a species of "fairy." Your choice of that term may be guided. There are some things to understand about the Old Powers of the Earth. They are not put into our hands, for our use. They are not our tools or our pets. Nor are they gods, and are not worth our worship. But they are powerful. They should not be feared, but they should be treated with love and respect and honor. They are holy, and they are inhuman, and we should be careful not to anthropomorphize them--they have their own purposes, and we can work in partnership with them, but we cannot expect human mercy or human forgiveness, or human cruelty, from them, if we misuse them.

Again, try not to be afraid. Trust your instincts, and trust your luck. It will be interesting to see if your luckiness changes since you told them to leave. If so, you may want to invite them back.

    Blessings!
