    Paying shop lifting fines
    A friend of mine was caught shopping lifting a DVD from a large chain store. The store lawyers are requesting him to pay a $500 fine. How should he proceed?

    Are they also reporting it to court where they will have additional fines or is this a one time thing and they will drop it? Your friend needs to find that out and get it in writing before doing anything.
