    Adding my wife's name to the deed for my house
    I was recently married and I would like to add my wife's name to the deed for the house. There is still a mortgage on the house. What is the best way to go about it?

    Welcome to AMHD. You should review your promissory note and mortgage; is there a 'due on sale' clause? If so, you may need to contact your lender and request some form of permission to add your spouse. Also, you need to consider how property is titled in your state: 'tenancy in common' or 'joint tenancy'? Joint tenancy with right of survivorship may prevent her from having to go to probate court with respect to title to the home in the event of your death (and vice versa).
