    Welcome,

But the Introductions forum is not for asking questions. So if you have not already done so, please post your question in the Hardware area.

You are the one misunderstanding. This site is made up of various different forums. Each forum has a specific topic of question or a specific purpose.

This forum (Introductions) is clearly marked as a place to intriduce yourself to the site and NOT a place to ask questions. In addition. The subject line is to be used to briefly describe your question not for the question itself.

You need to post a question in the appropriate forum correctly using the subject and body parts of the post. You aren't going to get an answer here.

BTW, I've merged your two threads into one. Please don't start a new thread with a follow-up.

    Hi, Resty Mushi!

Greetings and WELCOME to the site! ScottGem is exactly correct! I just moved your question that you had posted in Introductions to this topic area so that it would get the most exposure to those who are best able to answer it. Introductions is for people to introduce themselves and we try to not ask questions there.

We would appreciate it if you would return to Introductions sometime to tell us a little about yourself though, if you would be willing to do that.

Concerning that about that which you are asking, have you tried the following search? It might be one of many types of searches that you could try concerning what you are wanting to know in your question. I would suggest varying the words as well as the arraignments of them in order to get the best results.

    Thanks!

The main answer is everything is smaller and more proprietary. Motherboards for desktops follow a standard form factor and are easily interchangeable. Not so with laptops as you often can only get a motherboard from the mfg. The only parts that are readily interchangeable are hard drives and RAM. But even there Laptop hard drives and RAM are different from their desktop counterparts. And, of course, screens are specific to the laptop.
