    Ceiling fan wiring
I have a ceiling fan, I think it’s make by Hunter.
We had some ceiling painting done and the painters broke the fan reversing switch pull chain, and then they made matters worse by removing the switch without marking the wires. This fan's reverse switch has a pull chain, the first pull turns the fan on; second pull reverses the fan’s direction; third pull turns the fan back off. It also has a speed control switch that is a rheostat, clockwise increases the speed, and counterclockwise slows the fan speed. The reversing switch is round and has a pull chain and three wires, blue wire goes to the connection marked L, white goes to the connection marked 1, red goes to the connection marked 2. Inside the wiring housing there is a small device that has two yellow wires, resistance reads 1850 OHMS and it’s wires are yellow. There are also two red wires (hanging loose). When I was called into the room the Geniuses had all of the wires disconnected.

My question is “DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW THE WIRING IS CONNECTED?”

Here are instructions on replacing the pullchain in a ceiling fan. There is a section mentioning reverse switch pullchains:

If you need more specific wiring, I'll need to know exactly what fan you have. It's not a Hunter. Send me a picture [email protected]
