    Blood test confused
Right now I'm 5 weeks. I took blood test yesterday and called me today told me that I'm in between 6 to 8 weeks because my hormones were so high. They didn't tell me the exact number of hormones level. Will have my first ultrasound this Monday to find out how far I am.

I'm confused about being said I'm 6 to 8 weeks instead of my counting of 5 weeks? Meaning that I've counted it wrong? If it does then I've pregnant thur my last period?

It's very possible you are further along than what you originally thought. Unfortunately pregnancy is a guessing game. This is why we have EDC (ESTIMATED date of confinement), which, in simple terms, means due date.

The ultrasound is more accurate, but it's still a guessing game.

OK can't wait until this Monday to see how far I am. But it just weird that if it is does further than I thought then I must have pregnant while I had my period... it just totally thought of impossible you know.

    Thanks.

Oh by the way the nurse told me that I have to take prescription is prometrium every night until up to 12 weeks. Is that similar as folic acids or prenatal vitamins? I was just wondering and I forgot to ask the nurse about it

Prometrium? Are you sure? No, do not take this medication until you talk to your doctor about the risks vs the benefits. Did she tell you why you had to take this? It can cause a miscarriage. It is a category (D) medication in pregnancy, which means it is known to cause birth defects or miscarriage.

Again? Do you know why it was prescribed?

    Check this out.

Known or suspected pregnancy. There is no indication for PROMETRIUM Capsules in pregnancy. There appears to be little or no increased risk of birth defects in children born to women who have used estrogens and progestins from oral contraceptives inadvertently during early pregnancy. (See PRECAUTIONS.)

Really? I'm surprised when you said that... that's odd because the nurse said I have to take it to make my uterus get stronger and improve for baby grows...
I've miscarriaged last week of May 2008. I'm Rh negative and O negative blood type...

You need to discuss the pros and cons of this medication with your doctor. Sometimes the benefits outweigh the risks. But this is known to cause a spontaneous abortion (miscarriage). This information came directly out of my 2007 Mosby's Nursing Drug Reference.

If you are Rh negative, then you need a RhoGAM shot at approx 28 weeks of pregnancy or whenever bleeding occurs.

OK I won't take it until this Monday to talk about this medication. I'm so glad I bought it up about it.
Yes I already took the shot of RhoGam in 1st week of June after I miscarriaged.

You will need the shot again during the 28th week of pregnancy. Then again within 72 hours after delivery.

I, too, am glad you brought this up. There may be a reason to take it in pregnancy, but my medical texts don't indicate any reason why this is necessary. Please fill me in with what you learn on Monday.

Your last period may not have been an actual period, some women have bleeding in pregnancy often about the time of a period so you could be further along. It is important to remember too that hcg levels have a very wide range of what is considered normal in each week. They could just be on the higher end of the norm and you may indeed be only around 5 weeks along. Sometimes twins will cause a higher level as well... so there are a few possible reasons it may be higher than expected.

As J_9 said, wait on the med... they are sometimes used if it is known that a woman has low progesterone in early pregnancy, which can cause miscarriages, but unless you know for sure this was the cause... and that it is a concern now, ask your doctor about it first.
