MP3/4 "Music no limit" player doesn't work? Why?
I received a gift from my Aunt in NY (Im in Florida) & it was a blue box that says on it "Music No Limit" MP3MP4 player. OK I have never owned an Ipod(which I guess is another name for it or is it something completely different?) Im clueless, last thing I had was a portable cd player:o.. I know sad huh? Anyway it worked for like the 1st month(played chinese videos not sure why?? ) but it slipped out of my hands & fell onto my carpet(not a drastic fall to think it wouldve broke) but it then began to flash on & off a few times & finally just went off completely. Now when I turn the power on nothing happens, I try to charge it and the light turns from green to red in one second. I tried looking online for this "brand" but no luck.. Your my last hope, please someone help me I want to use it but cant. I plugged it into the library computer with my usb cable but nothings coming up, do I have to click into something? I was thinking maybe it just needs to be rebooted but I don't know what to do next. HELP HELP HELP!! THANKS Everyone... Jessy:)

    Hi Jessy -
I've never heard of this player either, but I'm guessing it is an iPod knockoff of some kind. If it has replaceable batteries, I would try new batteries first.

If it has a built-in rechargeable battery, I would see if there is some way to remove it for a minute or so to cause the unit to reboot. Next, I would put it on the charger and even though it goes from green to red, let it stay on the charger for 12 hours or so. (Maybe the light will go back to green)

If you haven't installed the software that came with the player, I wouldn't. You can probably get all the functionality without it. Assuming you have Windows XP, it should automatically recognize the player when you attach the USB cable. Then you can use Windows Media Player or some other program to sync songs/videos between your computer and the player.

    I hope this helps,

Hi, Thanks For The Advice. Yes It Is A Knockoff Because With All The Searching I Have Done Only 1 Other Person Online Have I Seen Even Mention The "music No Limit" (mp3/4 Player) It Was In Ny Somewhere Some Corner Store Of Some Kind, Anyway It Actually Worked To Play Games & Somehow My Aunt Actually Downloaded A Few Fam Photos On It B4 Sending To Me, As I Said I Accidentally Droped It About 2ft Or So Onto My Carpet Which Didn't Seem To Be Much Of A Hard Fall But Shortly Afterwards It Blinked On & Off Then Just Went Dead. I Tried The Overnight Charging(for Over 12hrs) Still Nothing. When I Have It Pluged In & I Click The Player "on", The Screen Looks Like Its On It's a Little Lighter Blue(still Dark But U Can Tell It Turned On) Then Nothing. I Tried Also To Press The Middle Button And Menu At Same Time To Reboot And As U Guessed... nothing. I Peeled The Little White Plate Covering The Bottom Part Where U Would Plug In The Charger And Next To It Is A Very Small Screw, I Guess Maybe I Should Try To Open It? Would It Slide Out Then? This Is So Frustrating Because I Want to Use It, How Can An Mp3or4 Player Break So Fast I Thought These Things Were Supposed To Be More Durable Then That? :( :( :(... any Other Tips, I Would Sure Appreciate It, Thanks A Whole Lot! :) , Jessy

    Hello Jessy -
Based on what you say, the battery is probably not removable. I would not recommend opening the player (except... what do you have to lose?) unless you are very careful. In 99% of the cases, there won't be anything you can do once you are inside there.

I also searched the web for more info on this unit, and didn't really come up with anything useful... just a couple of unhappy owners.

A drop of a couple of feet onto a soft surface shouldn't break something like this, however I have heard of somebody dropping an Amazon Kindle eBook reader this distance and it broke too. So it can happen, even on a more expensive (and namebrand) item.

Since the troubles started after the fall, my guess is that a soldered connection came loose somewhere. In inexpensive electronic devices, this is a common problem. While you do pay a premium for namebrand, you also (usually) get a device that has a higher level of quality control. Obviously, when you receive a gift you have no control over what device you get.

If you have a techie/hacker friend, you might ask them if they would open up the player and see if anything obviously wrong can be found. If your only other option is throwing the thing out, you might try opening it yourself, but be careful, as the fully charged battery will create quite a spark if you accidentally short it out (although this should be fairly easy to avoid).

    Best of luck,
    WallyH
