    Dominate but timid Dacshund?
My dacshund is 1 1/2 and a very sweet dog to me and my family, but to strangers she barks and acts like she'll bite. My brother told me to be more dominate (no hitting just spraying a water bottle into the air) now she bell-ups but still won't cut off the barking and aggressivenessto others. And when we got her at 9 months she wasn't like this at all. And my brother trained her to come and she does it real well with my brother but I just call her and she runs off to chase something.

You should have been the one to teach her to come. When you are with a trainer, the trainer doesn't do it, but teaches you how. Anything you need to teach your dog, no matter how long it takes, has to be done by you and you alone. So she will respect your authority as the pack leader. Absolutely do not make eye contact with her when you are teaching her anything, you will be lost in those lovely eyes and lose your purpose.

Spend some money on getting her to a class. It will do wonders for you and she. Dachsunds are really very senitive, smart and strong willed. They will walk all over you to get what they want. Same as, I guess, Jack Russell terriers.

I hope this helps, but you know what they say, you are not doing your dog any favours by not training properly. I am not saying you don't want to, but you are in love with her and she knows it ! Just look at the face..!
