How to correct a hair color you do not like
I recently tried a Loreal hair kit the color was Truffle with Highlights, the all over hair color was fine but the highlights were a disaster!! They came out orangie and brassy. Here is what I have done so far I went and bought Loreal light brown hair color two weeks after originally putting highlights in my hair and it toned it down some I also went and bought shampoo and conditioner called Silver dark purple shampoo at my local salon to tone down the brasseness, I have now tried to color my hair a week later with a medium brown to cover the highlights all together but it still not covering it completely and I am afraid to go any darker, my original hair color is medium brown, but already with as much as I have done to it, its really dark and muddy underneath CAN ANYONE HELP ME!! Going to a salon is out I have really long hair and the want 75.00 dollars to start then 50.00 an hour.

Your hair is getting muddy because you have combined colors with several different bases.. There is some basic knowledge that is necessary to achieve good color results. I have been a master colorist for 15 years and see it a lot! Firstly, get a good reconstructor and do a couple treatments a week before trying more color. Then, go to a beauty supply store ( we have Sally's here) and ask them to help you choose a color with a green base the same level as you have now. Use 10 volume developer and apply only to the hair that is still brassy. Leave it on 20 to 30 minutes. This should tone the orange without increasing the muddy effect, which by the way, should fade away with a little time...

My natural hair color is Dark/Medium Brown. Since summer, I've been dying my hair with a reddish tone. I haven't had my natural color since then. I decided to try black, I HATE IT. I have naturally medium brown hair. I have always looked better with blonde hair, and I went to salons for years to have my hair colored. I can no longer afford the $100+ visits every 3 weeks, so I have tried doing it myself. Recently I used Color Zap to remove all color (because I had several...

How Can I Correct My Hair Color [ 2 Answers ]

A month ago, I bleached my hair. I have a natural mousy brown hair color. It went orange, I used a lightening kit. After a week or so I dyed it dark brown. This was great because it just went a little bit darker than my natural color. However, it then faded to a ginger. Then I re dyed it a Warm red...
