I have a galvanized water tank that I would like to change to a pressurized tank. The pump was changed some years ago from a jet pump to a submersable pump. The current tank is 20" dia. and 60"hgt. The pressure switch is set to go on at 30 and off at 50 What size pressurized tank should I use to replace this tank, there are two baths, one kitchen and two people in the house right now (used to be 8), also what other "special fittings or adjustments will I have to make. Right now I have to continually recharge the tank with air to prevent the pump from short cycling. Thanks

You will want to make sure the tank does not have a system in place to automatically recharge the tank, though it sure sounds like that is not the case. The older galvanized tanks frequently allowed the wellpipe to charge with air after shutoff, which would then be pumped into the tank when the pump cut back on. Since that does not sound like the case with yours, you will only need to replace the tank with a bladder tank. The new tank will not be as large as the old one since the bladder tanks are more efficient, though you can select a larger one if you would like. Most people seem to use a tank in the thirty to forty gallon range. The one difference may be that the new tank will use a "T" connection as opposed to having one pipe enter the tank and another pipe exit the tank. Not sure what size tank you have but if my math is correct, it is about 70 gallons. You will not need a 70 gallon bladder tank.
