    Mole, tick, or something else?
A few days ago I noticed a mole on my hubby's back that, quite frankly, I don't remember being there... neither does he. We are both kind of stumped over it. He thinks it could be a tick or a scab or some kind of bug bite or something of that nature. I think it could possibly be melanoma related. After some googling about weird moles and certain red-flag characteristics I've decided to get some opinions. He says it doesn't itch and it's not painful. It is not scalely and it doesn't bleed. Its about the size of a dot that a permanent marker would produce - definitely smaller than a pencil eraser but also way larger than a freckle. It's kind of dark purple with darker spots (could be brown, could be black.. ) inside of it. All in all, it does not look normal.

I am asking your opinion and advice; what do you think this is?

I can tell you that this is NOT a tick, and DOES warrant medical attention. Any mole that is new should always be checked out.

Thank you for your input - there's been a new development though. We were keeping a close eye on it, and shortly after my original post... it fell off. What remained looked like the aftermath of a really mean pimple (you know the kind of zits; the ones that hurt to touch and are ever so slightly raised). Since then the redness has decreased in size and is almost gone. We are actually relieved it's gone, but still confounded by it's very existence. What do you say?

I would still go to a dermatologist. The best case scenario he tells you its nothing, the worst case, whatever it is it can be treated

It looks like cancer in the picture.

My mother had a friend, a sun worshipper, who used to peel skin cancers off her face and treat it herself. :(

Go immediately to a physician with your picture. :)

Today we went to a local park and spent quite a bit of time in the woods. This evening as I sat watching TV I felt something on my leg and looked down to see a little 'bug' on my thigh. It looked like a small spider with a round body. It was medium brown and had 8 legs, I believe. I was...
