F1 student employed in home country but in the US now
    Hi,
I am in the US for a research stay for more than 183 days with a F1 student visa.
Am I a resident alien now?
I am not getting any money from the US university here and I do not work here, but I do have a contract with my home university and get a monthly salary from them. Since I am not in my home country for more than 183 days, I do not have to pay taxes there. Do I have to pay taxes now in the US for a money I get from my home country? What do I have to do now?
I appreciate any kind of help a lot.

On F1 every one is exempt for residency for 5-years, so you will file non-resident tax return in the U.S.
About your home country, you need to find out yourself. This forum is about the U.S. taxes.

If your ONLY income is from your home country, then you do NOT have to file a tax return, as such income is NOT from a U.S. source and therefore NOT subject to U.S. taxes.

This will remain in effect for as long as you are under a F-1 visa, or for five calendar years, whichever is shorter.

    Hello!
So, according to AtlantaTaxExpert, I do not have to do anything here in the US. (About my home country, I know what to do.). I do not have to file form 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ and I do not have to file form 8843. NOTHING, right?
Thank you very much for your help!

    That is correct.

ANY income from your home income is NOT SUBJECT to U.S. taxes while you are on F-1 visa for less than five years.
