    Wiring lamp with two lights
My wife bought a lamp with 2 lights; a small one in the bottom and a regular one on top. The socket for the top bulb needed to be replaced. I finally found the socket. It has 3 connections on it. I have to connect 4 wires to it. ( the regular lamp wire and a black wire and white wire from the small light. I would like to know how the wires are connected to make this work. The switch works as follows: one turn, the small light comes on. Two turns, the small light goes out and the regular light comes on, and three turns, both lights come on.

    Thanks

Is the switch a part of the socket?
Assuming it is, then my guess is that there should be one terminal labeled "Common" or something similar. That would get two wires--the white one from the small light and one from the lamp cord. Which wire goes to each of the other terminals is probably a guess, unless they are labeled somehow. Just hook each of the remaining wires to a separate terminal and see what happens.

    Possible outcomes:
    1. Worst case scenario - Breaker blows
Sorry about that...obviously we don't know how the switch is wired
    2. First click (from off) turns on wrong light
Just switch the two wires that are on the terminals by themselves
    3. Everything works
      Don't you love it?

    Good Luck,
